Dryer Repair in the Chicago Suburbs

A dryer that runs but doesn't heat, or takes two cycles to dry a load, wastes time and energy. We repair gas and electric dryers of all major brands and tell you exactly what failed and what it will cost before we replace anything.

Common dryer repair problems we fix

Runs but doesn't heat

On electric dryers this is often a blown thermal fuse or a burnt heating element. On gas dryers it is usually the igniter or gas valve coils.

Takes too long to dry

A clogged vent is the most common reason, and it is also a fire risk. Failing heating parts and worn seals can cause it as well.

Won't start

A blown thermal fuse, faulty door switch, start switch or timer problem.

Squealing, thumping or grinding

Worn drum rollers, a stretched belt or a failing idler pulley are the usual causes.

Too hot or burning smell

Stop using the dryer and unplug it. Lint buildup or a stuck thermostat can cause overheating.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my dryer running but not heating?

On an electric dryer, check for a tripped breaker first (dryers use two). If the breakers are fine, a thermal fuse or heating element is the likely cause. On a gas dryer, the igniter or gas valve coils are usually responsible.

Is a long drying time dangerous?

It can be. A clogged exhaust vent traps heat and lint, which raises the risk of a dryer fire. If your clothes take much longer than they used to, have the vent and dryer checked.

Do you repair both gas and electric dryers?

Yes. If you smell gas, leave the home and call your gas utility or 911 before calling us.

How fast can you come out?

We offer same-day service in most cases. Call (331) 600-4935 to check availability for your area.
